Karpooravalli or Omavalli are Tamil Names for Ajwain Leaves. Ajwain plant is easy to grow in houses like Tulsi plant. Karpooravalli(Omavalli) has lot of Medicinal uses and benefits.
It is one of the most popular hot beverages in world and especially in India. A cup of omavalli tea (chai) in morning gives refreshing feel and put you on track of long hard day. It can be prepared with milk or milk powder and various types of plain or flavored tea powders. This recipe prepares Indian tea using omavalli leaves, milk, sugar, tea powder and water.
Ingredients
Chopped Omavalli Leaves - 4
Tea Powder - 1 tsp
Sugar - 1 tsp
Milk 1Cup
Water -1cup
Method
Bring water to boil. Add chopped omavalli leaves, tea powder and let it boil for 3 to 4 min.
Once the color changes, add milk and mix well.
When the tea is boiling and get the right consistency, use the straîner right into the cups.
Serve the hot omavalli tea with cookies, rusk or biscuits.
