Black Nightshade Rasam/ Sunberry Leaves Rasam/ Manattha Thakkali Rasam

Black nightshade or manathakkali /மணத்தக்காளி கீரை is a commonly available green in India and it is rich in vitamins and minerals. In native medicine, it is used for treating digestive problems and chronic skin diseases. black nightshade is effective for stomach upset and mouth ulcers. The leaves have a slight bitter taste, which gets masked by cooking.

Ingredients 
Sun berry leaves/
 Manathathakkali Leaves - 1 Cup
Chopped Onion - 1
Chopped Tomato- 1
Crushed Garlic Pods - 2
Rasam Powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder- 1/2 tsp
Rice rinse water - 3 Cups
Coconut Milk- 1/4 cup
Salt to taste 
To Temper
Oil -1 tsp
Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
Sliced green chilli - 1
Method 
Heat oil in a pan, add the tempering ingredients one by one and sauté it for few seconds.
Add chopped onions, crushed garlic with little salt and sauté it for few seconds. Then add the tomatoes and fry until it becomes mushy. 
Then add the sun berry leaves/keerai and sauté it for 3 minuets.
Add the rice rinsing water, turmeric powder, rasam powder, salt and close lid and cook it for 5 minutes.

Once it done, add coconut milk, mix well. Then switch off the flame.Serve with hot steamed white rice.
