Spinach Kadaisal

It is the easiest and simplest dish. I have seen my mom use a special wooden churner to mash spinach, once it is cooked. If you have this spinach kadaisal with ghee and hot steamed rice, it would be one of your favorite dishes.

Normally kids don’t like to have these greens. But you try one time by preparing like this, they never say no… The greens have many health benefits. So try to eat greens on your daily base.

Ingredients

Spinach – 2 bunches
Garlic Pods – 10
Chopped Small Onions – 10
Chopped Tomato – 1 (Big)
Chilly Powder – 1 tsp (as per taste)
Sliced Green Chilly – 3
Grated Coconut – 4 tsp
Fennel Seeds – ½ tsp
Butter - little
Salt to taste

(To Temper)

Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Dry Red Chilly – 1
Curry leaves – few
Oil – ½ tsp

Method

Clean and wash the spinach bunches and chop into small pieces then keep it in a plate.

Boil the spinach, garlic, green chilies, tomatoes, chilly powder and onions along with salt. Now switch off the flame and let it cool down for another 10 min.

Grind it in a blender or use a hand blender and mash coarsely. In a blender slightly grind coconut and fennel seeds.

Then mix it well with keerai masiyal. In pan heat oil, add red chilly, curry leaves and season with mustard seeds.

You can transfer into serving bowl. Add little butter on it. I hope you can enjoy with this simple dish…
