Roasted Gram / Pottukadalai Coconut Chutney

It’s a simple and awesome dish with idli and dosa. Normally we can taste this chutney in hotels and road side shops. It gives the unique taste. Pottukadalai gives thick consistency to this dish. Ingredients

Roasted gram / Pottukadalai – 1/2 cup
Grated Coconut – ½ cup
Red Dry Chilli – 5
Tamarind Pulp – ½ tsp
Chopped Ginger – 2 tsp
Shallots / Small onions - 5
Salt to taste

To Temper

Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Urad Dal – ½ tsp
Curry Leaves – few
Coriander Leaves – 2 tsp
Oil – 1 ½ tsp

Method

In a pan heat ½ tsp of oil, add red chill and chopped ginger and roast it well.

Let it cool down and grind this along with coconut, tamarind, small onions, salt. Add water to get the desired consistency.

In a pan, heat 1 tsp of oil, add mustard seeds, urad dal, curry leaves and coriander leaves.
