Garlic Rasam

 This quick and easy garlic rasam is prepared using garlic, tomato, tempering, salt, jaggery, salt, red chilli and green chilli.


This is a very simple way to prepare garlic rasam. There is no toor dal and no rasam powder in this recipe. 

Ingredients 

Garlic - 12 cloves 

Chopped Tomato - 1( medium)

Curry Leaves - few

Tamarind - gooseberry sized

Turmeric Powder - 1/2 salt totals

To Temper 

Oil - 1 tsp 

Ghee - 1 tsp 

Dry Red Chilli - 2 

Curry Leaves - few 

Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp 

Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp 

Hing - 1/4 tsp 

Method 

Heat a frying pan. Add in oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds and broken red chillies.

When the mustard seed splutters add in curry leaves and slit gree chillies.

Followed by add in asafoetida and turmeric powder.

Add in peeled and crushed garlic. Fry until garlic turns slightly brown.

Next add in chopped tomato. Fry until tomatoes are soft and mushy. You can few table spoons of water if required.

Add in salt, tamarind extract and jaggery. Adjust all three as per your taste. Give a quick mix and bring it to boil.

Also add in 1.5 to 2 cups of water.

Bring it to roling boil. Optionally you can add a tsp of rasam powder and some coriander leaves. Switch off the stove. Serve it with hot steaming rice
