Falafel is a deep fried ball, or a flat or doughnut-shaped patty, made from ground Chickpeas, fava beans or both. Herbs, spices, and onion relatives are commonly added to the dough. It is a well-known Middle Eastern dish that most likely originated in Egypt. The fritters are now found around the world as part of veggie cuisine and as a form of street food.

Ingredients
Chickpea/Kabuli Channa/?Kondaikadalai - 1 Cup
Finely Chopped Onion - 1 ( big)
Coriander Leaves - a handful
Peeled Garlic Clove - 3
Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp
Cumin Powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander Powder - 1/2 tsp
Crushed Pepper - 1/2 tsp
All Purpose Flour / Maida - 2 tbsp
Lemon Juice - 1 tbsp
Baking Soda - 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil for deep fry
Method
Soak chickpea with enough water for overnight. Once it done, dry off the water and transfer it into another bowl.
In a blender add soaked chickpeas, coriander leaves, garlic, chopped onion, coriander powder, Chilli Powder, salt, cumin powder, lemon juice, crushed pepper and all purpose flour then grind it as coarse powder without adding any water.
Then add baking soda and mix well and then make small sized balls and keep it aside.
Heat oil in a pan, then deep fry the balls in hot oil. Once it turns golden brown, drain off the excess oil in paper towels.
Serve hot and tasty falafel is ready to serve with hummus or your favorite sauces.
