Cabbage Moong Dal Kootu

What a simple, healthy & delicious recipe? It took only 15 to 20 min to prepare this dish. It goes well with rice, chapatti & roti. It’s a very special south Indian kootu that made be very quickly and delectable.




Ingredients

Cabbage – 1 cup
Moong Dal – ¼ cup
Chopped Onion – 1 (big)
Chopped Tomato – 1 (big)
Asafoetida – 1 pinch
Sliced Green Chilli – 3
Sambar Powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp
Mustard Seeds – ½ tsp
Urad Dal – ½ tsp
Curry Leaves – few
Salt
Oil

Method

Pressure cook moong dal with salt and water and few drops oil to 2-3 whistles. Once it’s cooked well add 1/2 cup water and turmeric powder and allow it to boil for 3 minutes.

Then add the chopped cabbage to the cooked dal, and add sambar powder and allow it to boil again for few minutes.

Take a kadai, add oil asafoetida, green chilly, and onion, salt and saute till the onion gets transparent, then add tomato. Keep fry it and add the tomato onion masala to the boiled cabbage.

Allow it to boil check for salt. Then temper it with oil, curry leaf, mustard seeds, and urad dal and then add it to cabbage kootu.
