Kali

This is another yummy and delicious sweet. It is one of my husband most favorite recipes. My mom used to prepare many times for temple festivals especially for thiruvathirai and the very special person of their son in law.
They told me to make many times. Finally I did it very first time for my lovely hubby. Even my son liked this very much. I hope this will help to beginners and who ever want to try for naatu palagaaram. Enjoy !!!

Ingredients
Raw Rice – 1 cup
Moong Dal – 2 tsp
Grated Jaggery – 2 cups
Cardamom Powder – ½ tsp
Grated Coconut – ¼ cup
Fried Cashew & Raisins – 5 tsp
Ghee – 5 tsp
Salt – a pinch
Water – 3 cups
Method
Wash the raw rice in water and rinse it. In a Kadai and fry it until the rice becomes golden brown color. And switch off the flame.  Let it be for few minutes.
In a mixer add this rice and grind it as a coarse powder and keep it aside.
Add the moong dal in a kadaai and fry it till it becomes golden brown color.
Pour one cup of water to cook the dhal. By meantime in a vessel add little water and jaggery then cook till it dissolves completely in water.
While the dal is getting cooked, you can add the jaggery. Once the dal is almost cooked, pour two cups water, strained jaggery juice and a pinch of salt.
When the jaggery mixture begins to boil, add the powdered rice, cardamom powder and stir well to avoid bumps.
Add the grated coconut. Fry the cashews & raisins in the ghee and add to the kali. Add the remaining ghee to the kali and stir it one.
Keep the flame low and allow it to cook in low flame for 5 minutes and then remove from flame.
The yummy Kali is ready to serve!!!
