Spinach/Palak Chutney


This is simple chutney and can be used for breakfast/lunch and as a side dish to rice/chapatti/dosa/idli. Adding coconut gives nice texture and flavour to the chutney.



Ingredients 
Chopped Spinach/ Palak - 1 bunch 
Grated Coconut - 1/2 Cup 
Tamarind - small piece
Chilli - 2
Urad Dhal - 1 tsp 
Channa Dhal - 1 tsp 
Chopped Ginger - 1 tsp 
Oil - 1 tsp 
Salt to taste 
Water as required 

To Temper 
Oil - 1 tsp 
Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp 
Urad Dhal -1 tsp
Cumin Seeds -1/2
Chopped Onion -3 tsp 

Method 

Heat oil in a pan, add channa Dhal, urad Dhal and chilli. Fry for a min, then add chopped ginger.

Then add the grated coconut and fry for 2 to 3 minutes. Once it done add spinach leaves and tamarind.

Sauté it for few minutes then switch off the flame. Let it cool down completely and grind it along with salt and required water. Then keep aside.

Heat oil in a pan, add the tempering ingredients and fry for few seconds. Then transfer this tempering into spinach chutney and mix well.

Tasty and healthy chutney is ready to serve with idli, dosa or rice.
