Onion Coriander Chutney

 It is tangy and spicy chutney which goes well with idli and dosa. Both coriander and onion have a strong flavor and aroma, that comes together well in this chutney.



Here is the recipe...
Ingredients

Onions- 3 (medium)
Tomatoes - 2 (medium)
Coriander Leaves- 1/2 cup
Channa Dal – 3 tsp
Green Chillies- 5
Tamarind- 1 inch piece  
Salt to taste

(To Temper)
Mustard Seeds-1/2 tsp
Urad Dal- 1/2 tsp
Dried Red Chilli - 2
Hing- a pinch
Chopped Coriander leaves - few
Curry Leaves - few
Oil – 2 tsp

Method:


Heat a tsp of oil in a pan, add the channa dal and fry for a min. Then add green chillies, chopped onions and fry until translucent. 

Now add the finely chopped tomatoes and tamarind to it and cook till tomatoes are mushy. 

Finally add the fresh coriander leaves and let it cook for a minute. Remove from the flame and allow it to cool. 

Add salt and grind it as a smooth paste. Transfer the chutney into a bowl and set aside. 

Heat a teaspoon of oil in a pan. Add the ingredients which are under “to temper” one by one and saute it for few sec.  

Pour these tempered ingredients over the chutney and mix well.

Serve this chutney with hot idli/dosa…
