Coconut Chutney (With Cashew Nuts)

Coconut chutney is one of the great and must accompaniment for many South Indian dishes. It is made with some natural and fresh raw food that can taste extremely wonderful when prepared with right spices and ingredients.



It is a perfect combination for idli/dosa/ vada/uttapam/ adai/ pogal/upma…

(For Chutney)

Grated Coconut – 1 cup
Roasted Channa Dal – 3 tsp
Chopped Green Chilli – 2
Red Chilli – 3
Chopped Ginger – 1 piece
Cashew Nuts – ¼ cup
Tamarind – small sized ball
Chopped Coriander Leaves – few
Hing – a pinch
Salt to taste

(For Temper)

Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
Curry Leaves – few
Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Urad Dal – 1 tsp

Method

In a blender, add all the ingredients which are under” for chutney” with enough water to make as fine coarse paste and keep it aside in a separate bowl.

In a pan, heat oil. Add the ingredients one by one which are under “for temper”, then transfer this into chutney bowl. And switch off the flame.


Serve with hot idli/dosa…
