Fish Fry is a simple and quick dish. Normally I do South Indian style Fish Fry or Fish Varuval as it's called but this time I tried it something different and added besan (chickpeas flour) and other spices to make this fish fry in Northern style as it's called Besan Ki Fish Fry or Besan Ka Macchi.
Ingredients
Fish Fillets - 6 pieces
Besan | Chickpea Flour | Gram Flour - 2 tbsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp
Ground Pepper - 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp
Coriander Powder - 1 & 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Tamarind Water - 1 tbsp
Oil - 2 tbsp
Water - little
Whiting Fish - 6 Fillets (any fish)
For Fish Masala
Olive Oil - 2 tbsp
Butter - 1 tbsp
Finely Chopped Onion - 1/2 Cup
Finely Chopped Capsicum - 1/4 Cup
Boiled Potato (Cubed) - 1 (medium sized)
Salt to taste
Ground Pepper to taste
Chilli Paste - 1 tsp
Soy Sauce - 1 tsp
Chopped Cilantro - few
Brown Sugar - 1/4 tsp
Method
Fish Marination:
Take a clean bowl. Add besan flour, turmeric powder, chilli powder, ground pepper, garam masala, tamarind water, coriander powder, salt, oil and water then mix it well.
Make sure it doesn’t have any lumps. Add fish fillets and mix it well. Let’s marinate for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Fish Masala
Heat olive oil in a pan. Add fish fillets one by one. Once it done, fry well on both sides in medium flame.
Once the fish cooked well, take it out and keep aside.
Heat butter in the pan. Add chopped onions, capsicum, chopped potato, salt, ground pepper and fry everything for about 2 to 3 minutes.
Once it done, add chilli paste, soy sauce, and chopped cilantro then mix everything well.
Then add brown sugar and give a gentle mix. Finally add the fried fish fillets . Saut├й it for 2 minutes then switch off the flame.
Yummy & tasty fish masala fry is ready!
