Finger Millet Puttu



It is very delicious, nutritious and also very filling. This dish can be had as a breakfast or as a snack. It does can also be given to kids as snacks after they return from school.
 Finger Millet is an excellent source of calcium. It is also rich source of fiber and helps lower cholesterol. It is a highly nutritious dish.
Ingredients
  Finger Millet Flour/Ragi Flour - 1 cup
  Water - 8 tbsp
  Salt - a pinch
  Palm Jaggery/ Grated Jaggery/ Sugar - 1/2 cup
  Ghee – 2 tsp
  Cashew Nuts – 2 tsp
  Dry Grapes – 2 tsp
  Grated Coconut – 5 tsp
Method 
Take finger millet flour in a soft cotton cloth, fold it with the flour inside and steam for 10-12 minutes or until you get a nice aroma of steamed ragi flour.

In a plate, spread the steamed ragi flour, add salt and mix well.

Add water, 1 tbsp at a time and mix well or rub the flour well with your fingers.

Do not add too much water. If required, you can put it in the blender and blend for few seconds.

Heat water in a steamer or idli cooker/pan and steam the crumbled flour again for 15 minutes.

Transfer it to a plate. Add grated jaggery, ghee, grated coconut and mix well.

In a pan, melt ghee. Add cashew nuts and dry grapes and saute it for few seconds. Then add into ragi puttu.

Delicious finger millet puttu is ready to serve.
