Tamarind Rasam

Tamarind Rasam is an easy and quick rasam. This goes well with hot steamed rice with papad and any fry. Add ghee for more taste.
Ingredients
Chopped Tomato – 1 (small)
Chopped Onion – 3 tsp
Tamarind – small sized ball
Turmeric Powder – a pinch
Rasam Powder – 1 tsp
Chopped Coriander Leaves – 2 tsp
Crushed Pepper and Garlic – 1 tsp
Salt to taste
To Temper
Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Hing – a pinch
Curry Leaves – few
Chopped Coriander Leaves – few
Ghee – 2 tsp
Dry Red Chilli - 2
Method
Soak tamarind in 2 cups of water. In a kadai, heat oil. Add chopped onions and tomatoes and turmeric powder and sauté till raw smell goes well.
Then strain and add the tamarind juice to the kadai. Allow it to boil for three minutes. Now add rasam powder and crushed pepper and garlic then simmer it for a min.
In a kadai, add 2 tsp of ghee and add all the ingredients which are under “to temper”.  Add the tempered items to the rasam. 
Give a mix and let it for another 30 sec and switch off the flame. Serve with hot steamed rice.
